Let’s talk about the new Blackview Mega 2, the first budget tablet from Blackview this year. It’s the upgraded version of the popular Blackview Mega 1, and it’s here to prove that good things can come in affordable packages. If you’ve been eyeing a tablet that offers solid features without costing an arm and a leg, the Mega 2 might just be the upgrade you’ve been waiting for.

The Blackview Mega 2 takes everything that was great about the Mega 1 and kicks it up a notch. It comes with a 12-inch IPS display, which is a step up from its predecessor. Under the hood, it’s powered by the Unisoc T615 processor, which, while not the most powerful chip out there, handles everyday tasks with ease. At just $169.99, the Blackview Mega 2 is an absolute steal.

    Design and Build

The first thing you’ll notice about the Blackview Mega 2 is its size. This tablet is big—like, really big. With a 12-inch screen, it’s perfect for binge-watching your favorite shows, reading e-books, or even getting some light work done. But despite its size, it’s surprisingly sleek. The tablet measures 281.7 x 172 x 8 mm and weighs 615 grams, which is pretty lightweight for a device of this size. It’s easy to hold with one hand, though you might want to prop it up on a table for longer sessions.

The back of the tablet has a simple, clean design with a single 16MP camera module. It comes in three vibrant colors. The build quality feels solid, and while it’s not premium like some high-end tablets, it definitely doesn’t feel cheap.

    Display

The 12-inch IPS display is the star of the show here. The screen is sharp and vibrant with a resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels and a pixel density of 194 PPI. Colors pop, and the brightness is more than enough for indoor use. Sure, it’s not OLED, but for a budget tablet, the display is impressive.

Also, this tablet is Widevine L1-certified, which means you can stream your favourite shows in 1080P HD on platforms like Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+. The display is sharp, vibrant, and perfect for binge-watching, gaming, or even getting some work done. The tablet also features Low Blue Light Certification, which reduces eye strain during long hours of use.

The 84.9% screen-to-body ratio means you get more screen and less bezel, which makes the tablet look modern and stylish. The only downside? The 60Hz refresh rate might feel a bit dated if you’re used to smoother screens, but for most users, it’s perfectly fine.

The Blackview Mega 2 comes with stereo speakers, which deliver surprisingly good sound quality. The audio is loud and clear, making it great for watching movies or listening to music. It’s not going to replace a dedicated speaker, but for a tablet, it’s more than enough.

    Performance

Under the hood, the Blackview Mega 2 is powered by the Unisoc T615 processor, an octa-core chip with two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. It’s paired with the Mali G57 MP1 GPU, which handles graphics decently. In benchmarks, the chip scores around 300,000 points, which is solid for a budget device.

You get two RAM options: 8GB or 12GB, both of which can be expanded further using virtual RAM technology (up to 16GB or 24GB, respectively). This means multitasking is a breeze—you can switch between apps, stream videos, and browse the web without any noticeable lag.

For storage, the tablet comes with 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which is fast and spacious. If that’s not enough, you can expand it further with a microSD card (up to 2TB). That’s a lot of space for your apps, photos, videos, and files.

    Software

The Blackview Mega 2 runs on Android 15 right out of the box, which is a big win for a budget tablet. The interface is clean and user-friendly, with minimal bloatware. You get all the latest Android features, including improved privacy settings, better app management, and smoother animations. The tablet also supports Google Play Store, so you can download all your favorite apps and games without any issues.

From Split-Screen Multitasking and App Cloning to Private Space and Per-App Screen Recording, this tablet is designed to make your life easier. The Free Stylus Pen is a nice bonus, allowing you to take notes, sketch, or navigate the tablet with precision.

    Camera

Let’s be honest—tablets aren’t known for their cameras, and the Blackview Mega 2 is no exception. It has a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The rear camera is decent for quick snaps or scanning documents, but don’t expect DSLR-level quality. The front camera is fine for video calls and selfies, though it struggles in low light.

But the real star of the show is the AI Magic Photo Editor, which lets you enhance your photos with just a few taps. Features like AI Sky Replacement, Portrait Blur, and Magic Eraser make it easy to turn ordinary shots into extraordinary visuals. However, If you’re buying this tablet for photography, you might want to reconsider. But for casual use, the cameras are more than adequate.

    Battery Life

One of the standout features of the Blackview Mega 2 is its massive 9000mAh battery. This thing is a beast when it comes to battery life. You can easily get through a full day of heavy use—think streaming videos, browsing the web, and playing games—without needing to recharge.

When it’s time to top up, the tablet supports 18W fast charging, which is decent but not the fastest out there. Still, given the size of the battery, it’s a fair trade-off.

    Final Verdict

Here’s the best part: the Blackview Mega 2 is priced at just $169.99. For a tablet with a 12-inch display, 8GB/12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 9000mAh battery, that’s an incredible deal. You can find it on AliExpress, and if you’re quick, you might even snag some early-bird discounts.

So, if you’re in the market for a new tablet and don’t want to spend a fortune, the Blackview Mega 2 might just be the perfect fit. Go ahead and give it a try—you might be surprised at how much you get for so little.
