Following the four models of Honor 80 GT, Honor 90 GT, Honor X40 GT, and Honor X50 GT, Honor GT officially became an independent product series, and the first model was named “Honor GT“. The Honor GT series will undoubtedly use “cost-effectiveness” and “performance” as the main selling points. Honor GT must start well as the first model in the GT series. The starting price of around 300$ is really attractive, and the product strength of the combination of a thin body, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a massive 5300mAh battery, and a 120Hz AMOLED display, this phone is designed to impress.
Design & Build Quilty
First things first, the Honor GT looks good. It’s sleek, lightweight, and feels premium in the hand. Measuring 161mm x 74.2mm x 7.7mm and weighing just 196g, it’s easy to hold even during long gaming sessions. The flat design with rounded corners gives it a modern look, and the rectangular camera island on the back adds a touch of sophistication. Plus, the “GT” branding on the back lets everyone know this phone means business.
The phone comes in three colors: Phantom Black, Ice Crystal White, and Aurora Green. Each color has its own vibe, but my personal favorite is the Aurora Green—it’s eye-catching without being too flashy. The phone also has an IP65 rating, which means it’s dust—and water-resistant. It’s not fully waterproof, but it can handle a splash or two, which is always a nice bonus.
Display Quilty
The Honor GT features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution (2664 x 1200). In simple terms, this means the screen is smooth, sharp, and perfect for gaming. One of the standout features is the peak brightness—up to 4000 nits locally and 1200 nits globally. This makes the screen incredibly bright, even in direct sunlight. Thanks to the DCI-P3 wide color gamut and support for 1.07 billion colors, colors are vibrant and accurate. Watching movies or playing games on this display is an absolute treat.
Honor also includes some eye protection features to reduce strain during long gaming sessions. The 3840Hz PWM zero-risk dimming, low blue light, and adaptive dimming work together to make the screen easier on your eyes. It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference if you spend hours on your phone.
Performance
Now, let’s talk about the heart of the Honor GT—the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. This is Qualcomm’s latest and greatest chipset, and it’s a beast. I tested it with some of the most demanding games, like Genshin Impact and Call of Duty Mobile, and the performance was flawless. No lag, no stuttering—just smooth, uninterrupted gameplay.
The phone has up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. That’s a lot of power and space, even for the most hardcore gamers. You can run multiple apps in the background, store tons of games and media, and still have room to spare. And if you’re worried about overheating, don’t be. Honor has included a 3D Natural Circulation Cooling System with a 5,514 mm² VC heatsink and 9W thermal conductive gel. Even after hours of gaming, the phone stays cool to the touch.
Software
The Honor GT runs on MagicOS 9.0, based on Android 15. The interface is clean, user-friendly, and packed with AI-powered features. The YOYO Intelligent Body provides personalized recommendations and optimizations, while the Glory Phantom Engine enhances AI rendering, display separation, and power efficiency. Some standout features include AI face recognition, AI photography, smart multi-window, and multi-screen collaboration.
Camera
While the Honor GT is primarily a gaming phone, it doesn’t skimp on the camera department. The rear setup includes a 50MP wide-angle camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 12MP ultra-wide macro camera with autofocus. The photos are sharp, detailed, and vibrant, even in low-light conditions. The phone also supports 4K video recording, which captures high-quality footage.
On the front, there’s a 16MP wide-angle lens with EIS video stabilization. It’s perfect for selfies and video calls and supports 1080P video recording. The camera app features AI photography, night mode, portrait mode, time-lapse, and slow motion. While it’s not the best camera phone on the market, it’s more than capable for everyday use.
Battery Life
One of the biggest selling points of the Honor GT is its 5300mAh battery. This thing is a beast. During my testing, I could get through a full day of heavy usage—gaming, streaming, browsing, and more—without recharging. And when it’s time to top up, the 100W Honor Super Fast Charge technology gets you back to 100% in no time. I’m talking about charging from 0 to 50% in just 15 minutes. It’s incredibly convenient, especially if you’re always on the go.
Connectivity and Extras
The Honor GT supports dual 5 G, 4 G, 3G, and 2 G networks. It also has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for charging and audio output. Other features include stereo speakers, an X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback, and an infrared remote control.
