Playing the content on YouTube, was very smooth. You can play videos at a maximum of 1080p at 60 FPS without any problems or lag, And this is the highest quality you can get. My major issue however is the lack of Widevine L1 certification which restricts the video resolution on most streaming services to a mere 480p. While this does not become an immediate deal breaker, if you like watching your content on your smartphone, this might be an issue. This level may be difficult to find in many Chinese smartphones without exaggeration.

The inclusion of a 108MP sensor, a feature typically reserved for mid-range and high-end regular smartphones, places both phones in a league of its own. This sensor’s super high original resolution supports 9-in-1 pixel binning, a technology that captures an abundance of light while maintaining commendable noise control.

Beyond the powerful main camera, both phones introduce two more remarkable lenses. The first is the super microscope lens with 60X zoom. But, Ulefone Power Armor 18 Ultra has the temperature measurement, which actually works the same as a regular non-contact thermometer. In the back module between the cameras there is a sensor that measures the temperature. It can measure body temperatures from 35 to 42°C (accuracy ±0.2°C), object temperatures from -20 to 80°C (accuracy ±0.5°C) and ambient temperatures from -20 at 80°C. To use, hold the device up to aim at the target and tap “Measure” on the screen. The accuracy is quite good, comparable to a regular non-contact thermometer. Historical readings can be viewed at any time.

While the Power Armor 18T can record up to 4K 30FPS, although all video is restricted to 30fps, sadly. Also, it lacks any on-sensor image stabilization, resulting in slight jitters in the output video that would need post-processing to clean up for any professional use.

The 32MP Samsung S5KGD1 selfie camera on the front of the phone is also passable, but again, nothing outstanding. The images felt somewhat dull and lifeless, but this is acceptable for a rugged phone. Videos from the selfie camera are restricted to 1080p@30FPS.

It’s clear that Ulefone didn’t prioritize the best camera performance for this device. That’s not to say it’s bad—it’s just best described as utilitarian. Between the main camera, an endoscope, a microscope, and thermal imaging, the Power Armor 18T can handle any kind of surveying needed. It might not be best suited to your Instagram holiday snaps, though.

Performance and Gaming

The Ulefone Power Armor 18T Ultra sets itself apart by being one of the pioneering smartphones to adopt the advanced MediaTek Dimensity 7050 5G chipset. While this chipset might not be an entirely new addition to the market, it stands as a notable enhancement over its predecessor, the Dimensity 920 5G. We also ran some stability tests, and the Armor 18T Ultra did very well and aced those. It posted 83% on the CPU Throttle test, which we ran for 60 minutes – an excellent result. The GPU stability is superb, with a 99.6% score. The phone is equipped to handle heavy-duty tasks and the occasional games on the go. It runs smoothly, doesn’t get hot, and it doesn’t throttle either. It is not the fastest phone in its price bracket, but it is among the fastest and will not disappoint anyone.

Taking a closer look at the gaming performance, the Power Armor 18T Ultra excels in maintaining a fairly acceptable frames-per-second (fps) rate. In graphics-intensive scenarios like Vulkan or Car Chase, the device demonstrates a reliable 23fps, ensuring smooth gameplay. However, the true testament to its gaming capabilities lies in Manhattan 3.1, where it achieves an impressive 56 fps, providing an immersive and lag-free gaming experience.

The prowess of MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset is evident as it effortlessly navigates through resource-demanding games, including Mobile Legends and CoD: Mobile. One notable feat is the phone’s ability to accommodate Genshin Impact, a graphics-intensive game. While it manages to run Genshin Impact admirably, it’s worth noting that optimizing the gaming experience may necessitate tweaking the graphics settings to a lower configuration. This adjustment ensures a seamless and enjoyable gameplay experience, even in the face of the game’s demanding graphics. However, a caveat emerges during prolonged Genshin Impact sessions – the device exhibits a tendency to generate heat. This occurrence is not unusual in high-performance smartphones engaged in resource-intensive tasks for extended periods.

Battery Life & Usage

Ulefone Power Armor 18T Ultra boasts an impressive 9600mAh battery, making it a standout feature in the rugged smartphone category. To put this into perspective, most flagship smartphones typically feature batteries in the 4,500mAh to 5,500mAh range. The Power Armor 18T Ultra battery capacity is over double that of many mainstream phones, and this significant difference delivers a host of benefits to users.

This mammoth battery is designed to keep you powered up for extended periods, and it lives up to its promise. During our testing, we were unable to significantly drain the battery, even with continuous usage. This capacity is enough battery for at least four days of use, and with curation, a week is a plausible objective.

But we are not done yet, this phone has a 66W fast charging capability. This means that when it’s time to recharge your device, you won’t have to wait around for 1 hour and 20 minutes. The combination of a massive battery and fast charging capability ensures that you spend less time tethered to an outlet. And it supports 15W Max wireless charging and supports reverse charging which comes in handy when another device is short of power such as a smartphone, smartwatch, earphones, etc, So you can make it as a power bank at any time.
