I’ve been testing smart home tech for years, and I use Tapo cameras daily around my house, so I was excited to get my hands on the new Tapo C675D wireless security camera. This 4K solar powered dual lens security camera is designed to monitor a massive area without requiring several different cameras. With its crisp 4K resolution, ultrawide camera, and second camera that can rotate, zoom, and automatically track movement, I was eager to see how it would perform.

The Tapo C675D is available on Amazon, with a price that’s competitive with other high-end security cameras on the market.

    Solar Powered Convenience

One of the biggest advantages of the Tapo C675D is its solar powered design. With a solar panel that can replenish the camera’s average daily power usage in just 90 minutes, I no longer have to worry about the battery running out. The 10,000 MIA battery can last for up to 3 months on a full charge without any solar panel, but with the solar panel, I’ve found that the battery stays at 100% even with frequent use.

I’ve had the 675D installed for more than 2 weeks now, and every time I check the battery, it’s been sitting at 100%. This is a game-changer, especially when you want to place the camera somewhere inconvenient. The solar power gives me much more freedom when deciding where the camera should go, and I’m far less likely to have to climb a ladder every few months just to take it down and recharge it.

The solar panel placement is also important, as it needs to receive consistent direct sunlight without being heavily blocked by trees, the roof line, or something else. However, once you find the right location and get everything positioned properly, the Tapo C675D is one of the easiest smart home gadgets to live with.

Dual Lens Setup and 4K Quality

The Tapo C675D delivers excellent 4K quality, with sharp and vibrant video that makes it easy to identify what’s going on. The dual lens setup provides a complete picture and a closer look at the action at the same time, with both feeds appearing together inside the Tapo app. The ultrawide camera has a 169 degree field of view, while the second camera can rotate, zoom, and automatically track movement.

The camera also features free AI-powered detection, which can separate people, vehicles, and animals by identifying different types of subjects and activities. This means that I can get more relevant alerts and know what actually deserves my attention. For example, I can set up notifications to alert me whenever a person walks up my front steps, without being alerted for every passing vehicle or neighborhood cat that walks by.

The 4K quality and dual lens setup make the Tapo C675D an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-end security camera. The camera’s ability to capture a wide area and provide a closer look at the action makes it ideal for monitoring large spaces, such as backyards or driveways.

    Storage and Cloud Options

The Tapo C675D offers two storage options: local micro SD cards up to 512 GB and cloud storage through Tapo Care. The local storage option is excellent for anyone who wants to avoid adding another subscription, while the cloud storage option provides additional features and flexibility. Tapo Care offers plans that cover up to 10 cameras, but subscribing is entirely optional.

I appreciate that the Tapo C675D doesn’t require a monthly subscription to use basic recordings, local storage, or the core AI detection features. This makes it an attractive option for anyone who wants a high-end security camera without the added cost of a subscription.

The camera’s storage options are flexible and convenient, allowing me to choose the option that best fits my needs. Whether I prefer to store my recordings locally or in the cloud, the Tapo C675D makes it easy to access and manage my footage.

    Continuous Capture and Motion Detection

The Tapo C675D features a unique continuous capture mode, which captures images at customizable intervals ranging from once every second to once every 60 seconds. This creates a more complete visual timeline between standard motion-triggered recordings, helping to fill in gaps that might occur when the camera is in a sleep state.

The camera’s motion detection is also impressive, with the ability to detect and track movement automatically. The AI-powered detection can separate people, vehicles, and animals, providing more relevant alerts and notifications.

The continuous capture mode and motion detection features make the Tapo C675D an excellent choice for anyone looking for a security camera that can provide comprehensive coverage and alerts. The camera’s ability to detect and track movement makes it ideal for monitoring areas with high foot traffic or potential security risks.

Final Thoughts — Price & Value

After testing the Tapo C675D, I’m impressed by its features, performance, and value. The camera’s solar powered design, dual lens setup, and 4K quality make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-end security camera. The price, which is competitive with other high-end security cameras on the market, makes it an attractive option for anyone looking to upgrade their home security system.

The Tapo C675D is an incredible high-end security camera that addresses several of the biggest limitations of wireless cameras. With its solar power, dual lens setup, and 4K quality, it provides a comprehensive and convenient security solution. The camera’s flexibility, ease of use, and value make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to invest in a high-quality security camera.
